Argentina vs UK: Falkland War

You may or may not have heard of this war, partly because it was undeclared but it’s actually a sensitive topic to this day.

These Islands are technically Argentinian territory, but they were seized by Britain back in 1833. So, Argentina decided to invade the islands back in 1982 as a way to regain support from the people, who were upset with the government at the time.

Argentina assumed that the whole American continent would be on its side, but the United States ended up siding with Britain. A lot of things happened during this conflict, people died, an Argentinian submarine was destroyed, and, in the end, Argentina was unable to take back the islands.

The military government in Argentina was removed soon after and in Britain, Margaret Thatcher used the victory to win the next election in 1983. The more you know…
